The Augusta Family Foundation is built on the values of two remarkable women—Augusta Ann Dilley White and Augusta Julie Steinle Hotz.

Their lives were shaped by service, compassion, and a belief in the dignity of every person. These values have guided the foundation’s creation and mission, inspiring its commitment to carrying their legacy forward.

The foundation’s mission is to create meaningful, measurable change.

It supports organizations with proven success in uplifting those most in need, particularly in West Virginia communities. Whether through education, healthcare, or increasing accessibility, the foundation partners with groups making a direct and lasting impact. It seeks out passionate organizations that deliver results with both efficiency and heart. Recognition is not a priority—many contributions are given quietly, focused entirely on impact.

  • Our founders are grateful to their parents for instilling in them the importance of service to others, especially service to the most vulnerable in our local and regional communities. They are committed to democratic institutions and democracy and to the belief that "under God" we are all equal. As such they are committed to humanitarian efforts to provide people with fulfillment of basic needs such as, nutrition, clothing, shelter and health care, as well as efforts to afford all people with equal protection under the law and equal opportunity in housing, education and employment.

  • Legacy of Service: We are committed to carrying forward the values of service and compassion instilled by our families. Our work is rooted in lifting up the most vulnerable in our communities.

Empowering Communities: We believe that when everyone has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed, the entire community benefits. By supporting education, employment, and access to basic needs, we help build environments where individuals and communities can grow and thrive together.

Stewardship Across Generations: We aim to pass on the spirit of giving, ensuring future generations are equipped to continue this legacy of impact.

Collaboration and Efficiency: We partner with organizations that demonstrate efficient management and a passion for the communities they serve.

Quiet Action: We believe in acting without seeking recognition. Our giving is often done quietly, focusing entirely on the outcomes.

Leveraging Impact: Whenever possible, we look to amplify our giving through partnerships, matching funds, or seed investments that create long-term benefits.

Joy in Giving: We believe that helping others should be both meaningful and joyful.

The Augusta Family Foundation goes beyond financial contributions, sharing time, talents, and energy to foster lasting change.

By investing in projects with long-term benefits and offering matching funds, it amplifies the impact of its efforts.

At its core, the foundation believes in equal opportunity for everyone. Its giving focuses on fulfilling basic needs—such as nutrition, healthcare, shelter, and clothing—as well as promoting equal opportunity in housing, education, and employment. Every initiative reflects a deep connection to West Virginia and its people, building pathways to success not just for today but for future generations.

The foundation’s commitment extends beyond immediate results, with a focus on sustainability to ensure each supported project has a lasting impact.
